Microcirculation of the Liver
نویسنده
چکیده
The microcirculation of the liver has important roles in maintenance of liver function. It guarantees the supply of the parenchymal tissue with oxygen and nutrients, serves as the gate for leukocyte entrance in hepatic inflammation, and is responsible for the clearance of toxic materials and foreign bodies from the bloodstream. The morphology and physiology of the hepatic microcirculation are described to help the understanding of the physiology of the hepatic microcirculation. 2.1 Dual Blood Perfusion of the Liver and Hepatic Arterial Buffer Response

Melatonin Protective Effects against Liver Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury
Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) is a common phenomenon during liver surgery, transplantation, infection and trauma which results in damage and necrosis of the hepatic tissue through different pathways. Mechanisms involved in I/R damage are very intricate and cover several aspects. Several factors are involved in I/R-induced damages; briefly, decrease in sinusoidal perfusion and ATP generatio...
متن کاملIn vivo label-free quantification of liver microcirculation using dual-modality microscopy.
Microcirculation lesion is a common symptom of chronic liver diseases in the form of vasculature deformation and circulation alteration. In acute to chronic liver diseases such as biliary atresia, microcirculation lesion can have an early onset. Detection of microcirculation lesion is meaningful for studying the progression of liver disease. We have combined wide-field fluorescence microscopy a...

BACKGROUND Septic acute liver and intestinal failure is associated with a high mortality. We therefore investigated the influence of volume resuscitation with different crystalloid or colloid solutions on liver and intestine injury and microcirculation in septic rodents. METHODS Sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) in 77 male rats. Animals were treated with different crysta...
متن کاملLaser speckle contrast imaging for intraoperative assessment of liver microcirculation: a clinical pilot study
BACKGROUND Liver microcirculation can be affected by a wide variety of causes relevant to liver transplantation and resectional surgery. Intraoperative assessment of the microcirculation could possibly predict postoperative outcome. The present pilot study introduces laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) as a new clinical method for assessing liver microcirculation. METHODS LSCI measurements ...
متن کاملHepatic stellate cells: role in microcirculation and pathophysiology of portal hypertension.
Accumulating evidence suggests that stellate cells are involved in the regulation of the liver microcirculation and portal hypertension. Activated hepatic stellate cells have the necessary machinery to contract or relax in response to a number of vasoactive substances. Because stellate cells play a role in both fibrosis and portal hypertension, they are currently regarded as therapeutic targets...
